2020 Marcile Wood Community Service Award
Laurel Kubin received the 2020 Marcile Wood Community Service Award to recognize her deep involvement in community service. Laurel is the perfect example of someone who was not only was involved in providing volunteer hours as part of her FCS profession, but has continued to be engaged during retirement.
While Laurel is active in many volunteer opportunities through her church and senior support organizations, this award specifically recognized her community service as the lead AARP Volunteer in Fort Collins. She organizes community engagement activities for Northern Colorado AARP Members. These activities include Movies for Grownups, hikes, educational sessions on fraud prevention, art gallery viewing, and many more. Laurel has been a lead contact for putting together the Living Involved Fair for Northern Colorado where attendees can learn more about local groups which have volunteer opportunities to help older adults become involved, stay active, connected and healthy.
