Be the Leader You Want to Work With

About the Module

We are leaders in our roles as professionals, volunteers, and in our social circles. Collaboration and teamwork are prominent in the FCS profession. We encounter many leadership styles throughout those interactions. In some interactions, there is a clearly defined ‘leader’, or person who is in charge. Is that person ever you? Have you been in that position and not had a good experience? Many times, we change how we work when we move to a position of authority. This VPD Module will address characteristics and actions leaders can demonstrate that will help them convey authority while building a solid working relationship.

Presenter will discuss:

  1. Methods to encourage team members to engage.
  2. Strategies to effectively communicate with team members.
  3. How to analyze personal goals for accepting a leadership role.
  4. How to develop confidence in utilizing personal characteristics and skills in a leadership role.
