The Theme for the 2022 World Home Economics Day is Building Resilient Homes and Families. Resiliency is the ability to bounce back from a crushing force. Our homes and the households that depend on them will not be resilient without planning and preparation ahead of the forces, natural and human caused, that can overwhelm and crush them. Educating in the area of resource planning at the individual and household level has always been a strength of home economics as a discipline and we can draw on the lessons of the pandemic, the experience of shortages at stores, the challenges in child and elder care, the disruptions to finances, networks of support and everyday life, to inform our offerings going forward. This webinar will introduce this global event sponsored by the International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE) and discuss how AAFCS members can contribute.
Participants will be able to:
- Visualize how FCS fosters global interdependence.
- Explain how FCS supports UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Understand how to apply for International Federation of Home Economics Membership.
- Determine the value of International Professional Home Economist certification.
